With Halloween just around the corner, I wanted to look at the style inspiration of one of my favourite autumn films, Practical Magic. Obviously the 90s is very in at the moment, so there’s a lot of inspiration out there! From the tattoo chokers to the crushed velvet camisoles. But Practical Magic style is all about floral maxi skirts, chunky cardigans and embroidered camisoles. I do love Sandra Bullock but she’s a bit square in Practical Magic. Gillian is obviously the cool one and I much prefer her style. So without further ado onto Gillian and Sally Owens, the most fashionable witches in the 90s…except for maybe the girls from The Craft .
I love the dress on the left, that one is Free People, as is the purple one on the left. Free People has a huge 90s inspired range at the moment featuring lots of lovely velvet! The green dress in the middle is River Island, probably the best high street brands for grunge style clothing at the moment.
Mom Jeans from Topshop, as it’s the end of summer now, light lacey vests are not as easy to come by, there are a couple by boohoo and ASOS, the ones above, if you can splurge, are from Velvet and Diane Von Furstenberg.
Love this Gillian Owens outfit, looks so cosy for the autumn. Cardigan from John Lewis, there is an extremely expensive version from Gucci. The lace t-shirt is from Dorothy Perkins and the floral maxi skirt is from Miu Miu.
This is definitely Sally Owens best outfit! Beautiful floral maxi skirt from Karen Millen, top from Miss Selfridge and this particularly cardigan is from Michael Kors. But obviously black camisole tops and cardigans are very easy to come by on the high street. Finally finished off with a simple necklace, this one from Romwe.
Gillian Owens style is so simple, but she looks great, and I love how obviously goth this is! This top is from Ssheena accompanied by TopShop jeans.
Finally, just to finish off with a few ideas from Free People. I found so many tops on their site when looking at this image, that I thought i’d make a little montage.
Anyone dressing as the Owen’s sisters or classic 90s characters for Halloween?
